Interior design uplift and redesign of an outdoor restaurant and bar area. Includes design of outdoors bar, dj booth, outdoor seating, outdoor space dividers, outdoor modular benches, custom furniture, specifications.

Brief

Uplift the existing outdoor seating area and build a new bar and DJ booth at Piren Restaurant and Bar in Kristinebergs.

Aim

Keep what is good, change what is bad and add what is missing.

Concept

After speaking to the client and examining the existing interior, we have put together a list of things that are good, bad or missing. We tried to elevate the experience by focusing on elements that are loved and simplify the look by removing what is aged or too expressive. Therefore choosing few main existing materials that are found outside and inside (blues and yellows), getting inspiration from the architecture (warm wood tones and metal structures), and of course plants and water that help tying everything together.

Solution

To create eliminate the tunnel-like view in the outdoor area, we proposed to build dividers that not only create different zones in the long interior but shows the impressive hight of the building. We gathered together existing similar furniture and placed them in their own zone to reduce the visual noise. Taking the inspiration from architecture and already existing custom elements we have created a new outdoor suitable design that uplifts and unites the space with the inside.

Due to a occasional strong wind, we have designed a special table connector tray that would keep the cutlery, serviettes and other table equipment in place.
