Redesigning the interior for Spirituality & Faith Centre at Coventry University, The Hub. Creating a concept of a “Bird Nest” to unite in one space all beliefs.
Brief
The Spirituality and Faith Centre at Coventry University is in need of uniqueness and unity. As students were lookingfor a Spiritual place, the University provided an area on the top floor ofnewly buildHub. The problem was that the Spirituality and Faith Centrehad no separation from the rest of theHub and ended up looking like another room in the building without definition and signature.
Solution
We wanted to create a nature-inspired interior that unites different religions, as well as welcome those who are looking for spiritual comfort and peace.
While researching on different beliefs we founda beautifulsymbol that is familiar tomany – “a white dove”. Dove is a symbol of a good message andto keep this moto as a guide for thiscentre we decided to make the whole place a big bird nest, that welcomes all students totheir home.
The centre is on the top floor and has a simple storyof people climbing the tree when they walk up stairs to the centre, passing through roots (1stfloor), trunk (2nd floor), leaves (topfloor) and entering the bird nest – the Spirituality and Faith Centre, a place that is safe and feels like home.
