interior and lighting architect in Stockholm

About

For me, being an interior architect and lighting designer means being an inspired, creative explorer, a society connector, a problem solver, and an artist. Fixing, searching, and doing what I enjoy will always be my goal.

I decided to become an interior architect when I was in the 9th grade. Of course, I did not know which profession was best for me, but interior architecture, by description, combined everything that I liked to do: drawing, building, solving puzzles, taking pictures, combining colors, collecting elements from nature, making compositions, crafting, reading, socialising, and more. Those were enough good reasons for me to choose that path.

I started by enrolling in the second-largest Art School in Lithuania. Essentially living at the art school helped me grow personally and explore art in various forms. It was also where I discovered design. The school prepared me well for the next significant step in my life – England, where I completed my BA in Interior Design. I freelanced as an interior designer in England, worked as a product designer in China, became a lecturer for interior designers, and, most importantly, found what I love to do.

My next significant step brought me to Sweden, where I found an even deeper connection to design, creativity, and my values. I earned another degree, an MSc in Architectural Lighting Design at KTH. I pursued it mainly because I believe that light is one of the most important elements in interior design, impacting not only visual composition but also our health.

I worked for two years as a freelance interior architect with Jon Eliason Design Studio, designing interiors in the public sector with a focus on branding, concept, and product design. Later, I worked for two years as a lighting designer at Art of Light + Aloud, planning architectural lighting for smart home interiors, gardens, and facades, mostly in the private sector, in close collaboration with architects and interior designers.

Currently, I am freelancing as an interior architect & a lighting designer. Working together with a lighting consulting group CO-LD (Cooperative Lighting Designers), focusing on various creative projects, studying Swedish language, and organising a monthly networking event for architects and interior designers in Stockholm.

The journey is still ongoing. I am happy that I listened to my intuition back in the 9th grade. It is difficult to know whether the choices you make are right, but I believe that following your “gut feeling” will never lead to regret.
